Pavement Reconstruction
The sum of all activities undertaken to provide and maintain serviceable roadways. This includes corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance, as well as minor rehabilitation projects.
Three Methods:
Removal and Replacement of Existing Asphalt: Removing the current asphalt pavement. Grading the stripped away area and laying down new asphalt.
Reclamation of Existing Asphalt: Reclaiming existing asphalt requires the existing asphalt to be pulverized into a recycled base material. This solution reduces the cost by utilizing existing materials.
Full Depth Replacement: The most expensive option. The entire area of pavement is removed and a new base material is installed prior to the new asphalt pavement.
